Henry Clay Payne papers, 1885-1908.

A collection of clippings, photographs, typewritten sketches, and some correspondence touching upon Henry Clay Payne's life and his services as organizer and director of numerous public utilities in Milwaukee, city postmaster, leader in Republican politics towards the close of the century, and Postmaster General in President Theodore Roosevelt's cabinet. Much of the correspondence was written for a memorial volume.
